ARCHETYPAL LANDSCAPE is a retrospective excursion through ten years’ worth of work.
An interest in the “creation” of landscapes and the conflicts that arise when trying to capture them is apparent already in the very first photographs. This interest manifests itself through the evolution of approaches in the work, all the way through to the most recent creations, some of which are as-of-yet unpublished.
ARCHETYPAL LANSCAPE questions the relationship between the landscape and the archetypes that are so deeply rooted within us. It also looks to lay bare the popular appropriation of these archetypes: clichés.
Humans organise, create hierarchies, plan… But beyond this socio-cultural hubbub, is there a predetermined order that drives towards certain fixed forms?
