For Art Dubai, the Lucy Mackintosh Gallery is presenting three artists whose artworks form a spectrum ranging from the urban landscape, to the “in-between” of rural and urban, to natural landscape.
They beautifully and powerfully describe the ambiguous relationship we have with our environment and how humans cope with shifting realities. Although far from Caspar David Friedrich’s iconic paintings, the artists find succession in his work with respect to his assessment of man as a predatory, calculating, yet romantic creature.
Landscape as an act of culture, a way of seeing the world, or simply as an expression of hope. |
