| Ryota KUWAKUBO was born in 1971. A pioneer of Device Art, his featured themes include the relationships between contrasting matters, such as analogue and digital, human and machine, transmitters and receiver of information, and more. He creates devices that are designed not only to provide experiences, but also as tools for establishing communication between the people who experience them. His representative works include “Bitman” (created in collaboration with Maywa Denki), “PLX,” “SiliFulin,” and “Nicodama.” He has also created large site-specific installations like Study for Consumption or Cocosocoasoco at Lucy Mackintosh Gallery in collaboration with Reico Yamaguchi.
